About AAPI Culture Fest
Welcome to AAPI Culture Fest, an annual celebration of the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in Colorado. Join us in honoring AAPI Heritage Month through a vibrant showcase of beauty, diversity, and resilience.
Why is celebrating AAPI Heritage Month crucial within the AAPI community? It empowers individuals and communities to honor their cultural heritage, values, and perspectives. Serving as a pivotal means of countering erasure and marginalization, it enables authentic expression and narrative ownership. Embracing and celebrating these identities promotes inclusivity, contributing to the creation of a more equitable, respectful and kind society for all.
Colorado is home to 340,241 Asians, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders according to current census data - made up of at least 21 Asian Ethnic groups. Asian Scholars, businesspeople, and families have arrived in Colorado as recently as yesterday. Many more have taken root since the 1860s.
The AAPI Culture Fest serves to foster connection, dialogue, and celebration. Honoring the stories, struggles, and triumphs of the AAPI community. Together, we will reclaim our narratives, honor our heritage, and embrace the diversity that truly defines us.
